A Bit About ana
Currently, I am a highschool sophomore at Pasadena, Polytechnic Highschool. Both of my parents pursued creative careers, so I spent most of my childhood surrounded by artists. Although I play around with many visual art mediums, drawing resonates with me the most, and it has acted as a catalyst for my creative expression. I am an assistant manager in the Life section of my school’s newspaper, The Paw Print. Writing is a way for me to articulate my thoughts where visual art falls short. I started my own, independent newspaper, The Uplift Post, which synthesizes my passion for social justice and writing. Outside of school, I practice karate, which I have done since I was 3 years old. I also tutor and volunteer at the Pasadena Huntington Hospital. Community service encapsulates many facets of everyday life, and I believe that it is our obligation, as humans, not to turn a blind eye to the harsh realities many people live through, no matter how uncomfortable it makes us. Contribution and leadership are essential for moving towards a more equitable and inclusive community.
